PGC1-Coaching is proud to be one of the country's first coaching programmes to be supported by The Performance Team. PGC1 works closely with the Performance Team to provide physiotherapy, gait analysis, and strength and conditioning support for our athletes.

The Performance Team provides you with expert online physiotherapy using their extensive experience with athletes of all abilities, from club athletes to Olympians. Their experience of working as part of a high-performance team with British Athletics means they know how vital the team approach is to be the best you can be. They also have years of experience working with club coaches, therapists, and family members to get the best for you as an athlete.

What makes the performance team different is that they work with you and your personal team – whomever they may be. Whether it's with your coach, physio, massage therapist, your partner, friend, or other family members. Matt and Mark work closely with PGC1 to advise our athletes on the best way to return to running, how injuries can be avoided next time, and provide individual programmes to accommodate this.

Matt Bergin

As co-founder and Physiotherapist at Performance Team, Matt brings a wealth of experience. As an elite athlete himself, having competed for Ireland and Physiotherapist to Olympic and Paralympic athletes, Matt knows only too well the importance of an integrated team approach in the ongoing care of athletes to allow you to perform at your very best. Matt works closely with several past, present, and future Olympians and Paralympians, with Athletics Ireland, the Royal Dutch Athletics Federation, and a professional track team overseas. However, most of Matt's work is done supporting recreational runners, club-level athletes, and newcomers to the sport looking to stay injury-free, keep fit and remain healthy. Matt trained as a physiotherapist at Brunel University before gaining a scholarship to complete a Master of Science Degree at the University of New Mexico in the United States.
